Week 1 after surgery

Revelation day! DUHHHHH

So today Sam questioned my diet, it was all sweet things and I am like yeah and it is the same thing I have been on for 3 weeks now.

My discharge papers said pureed and another said liquid diet. Go figure.

So, I called my dietician and I am suppose to be eating WAY more 3-4 hrs all day and different foods..

For anyone interested here is my list:

Applesauce
Cream of wheat, oatmeal, grits prepared thin and runny
Broth,tomato soup,cream soups, chicken and stars
Tuna, egg salad made creamy with mayo
Canned fruit, small pieces packed in juice
SF Jello, SF popcicles
LFLS Dannon Light and Fit yogurt
Eggs scrambled made like an omelet with a little water or milk
Thin sliced or grated cheese
LF cottage cheese
Creamy peanut butter
Saltines/oyster crackers

So tomorrow I will start that, seems like a dream LOL how sad! :)

Week 1 after surgery

Sunday 7/5/09

I had a really sleepy sleepy day today. Julio kept waking me up to make sure I was ok LOL!

I got up around 9:30am but I had been up and down from 5:30am on. I took a nap with Leanza from 1-3 and then I came out and fell asleep again. (I really did not want to get up but Leanza insisted I get up with her!) So I took a few hr nap again in the recliner. I really think I over did it yesterday.

I checked on the yahoo group I was on and they told me to rest, I just had major surgery! I know that but the drs make it sound like you have to be ready to run a marathon when you see them in two weeks! I think I will work at my own pace. Being tired isn't good for anyone!

Sat 7/4/09 Happy 4th of July!!!

Well I felt pretty good on Sat. We went to the farmers market and walked around a lot. I made dinner for Julio and Leanza, I had a good day at home until the afternoon. I was feeling so good I had forgotten to take my pain meds and I crashed, I was in so much pain! Silly me.

It took me a few hours before I was comfortable again but it was manageable.

I am home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well I got home yesterday.

I got home yesterday about 6:30ish, the rush hour traffic was TERRIBLE!
Oh my gosh, where do I start.

My surgery was delayed almost 2 hours because another dr was having difficulty and he needed my drs assistance.

When I woke up, I woke up to Sam telling me to wake up that "they" were there. (I think)lol Remember this is all under the remnints of anesthesia and such.
Later that day I remember them telling me I was going to get out of bed that night and I was like I don't think so! OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hurting so bad and I was so hot it didn't seem like the hospital had any ac so they went to get me a fan! I think I asked myself everyday until today probably why I elected to do this!

I feel a lot better today and I know everyday will get better. I have been sleeping on the recliner in the living room, it is the most comfortable place to be. I take only one pain pill every 4 hrs during the day and then 2 every 4 hrs at night, although I have been waking up every hour or so.

I had to eat something pureed before they would let me leave, it did taste better than it looked LOL! It was turkey or chicken or maybe even pork I am not sure it was some beige protein and some green veggie with mashed potatoes. They had Jello on the tray and soup and apple juice and milke sheesh! I ate from just the plate and that was ok, I had no nasuea and I didn't throw up so they said I was ok. I was really ready at 10a but I had to wait for Julio to get off from work at 2p :(

It is really neat, the only thing is, I have to remove it myself so I hope that is going to be ok......

Well, tomorrow is the day!

My surgery got changed from 7:45am to 9:45am, they called me today.

Leanza is going to have her first "sleepover" tonight at Sams with William.
I am not looking forward to her leaving us, the house will be so empty and quiet ;(
Sam will bring her over after my surgery tomorrow to visit me!

Everyone is downstairs having pizza and I am about to have a shake, take my meds, take a shower and go to bed.
Oh, our ac broke today GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have someone here now fixing it, thank goodness!
I can NOT live without my AC.

Sunday 6/28/09


I kept myself busy by going over to Sams so that really helped a lot.

This is not as bad as the first time I did all liquids.

I had some stomach issues during the day.

Back to ALL liquids day 13

Oh my, started back on all liquids today. Fun Fun Fun!

Lucky for me Sam and William came over and that really helped keep my mind off things even though I cooked dinner for them LOL. Something I don't really like, was looking mighty tasty tonight :)

I am soooooooo tired, I have not been sleeping well at all. I am getting muscle spasms which I do when I am under stress and that wakes me up a lot.

Only 2 more days........CRIKEY that is hard to believe!

Mostly liquid diet day 12

Today was not a good "nutrition day", I was out of protein powder, I had NO protein drinks and I had to run around like a chicken with my head cut off today.

Long story short, I had dinner at about 6pm.

After we went out to Walmart and then DQ after. Ok, so I admit, I am having the hardest time with the fact that I may never ever be able to enjoy sweets again. I am really like an adict and the thought of living like another 40+ years without having say, a shake again, Holy crap! I had a shake and I got full very easy, that surprised me, it tasted soooooooooooo good, I guess the fact it may be my last and it was so darn hot outside and I was sooooooooooo thirsty. Anyway, it is over and done with tomorrow I start back on my all liquid diet til Tues. I do feel bad I had it a little anyway :)
